From Subject Matter Expert to UI/UX designer

How explaining hard problems clearly turned into designing products, and what carried over from one career to the other.

Where I started

I started my career at Nstructive Global Services as a Subject Matter Expert, writing and publishing solutions, and later leading a cross-functional team. The job was about explaining complicated things clearly, which turned out to be good training for design.

The switch

In 2022 I joined ExpaVerse as a UI/UX design intern, working on dashboards and landing pages for a college hiring platform. Then came Ebslon Infotech, where I designed websites, apps and admin panels for many clients, followed by Oyela Technologies, where I built a master design system for web and mobile.

What carried over

  • Breaking a hard problem into small, clear steps.

  • Writing for the person who knows the least.

  • Checking the work against how people actually use it.

Where I am now

Today I design AI-powered workflows, dashboards and data-heavy interfaces for financial products. The tools changed; the habit of making complex things simple did not.
